I began to familiarize myself with the Law of Attraction in early 2017 when I was reading a ton of self development and career books. I was amazed at how effectively this mindset shift impacted how I felt about my life and work. If you’re not familiar, it’s basically the concept that “like attracts like.” As a super simplified example, if you think positive thoughts and have an abundance mindset then the universe will magnify that and you’ll have more positivity and abundance in your life. Whereas, if you focus on the bad things then the universe will amplify that and you’ll feel like bad things are always happening to you.

I read so many wonderful books on this and related topics and I’d love to share this wealth of knowledge with you! I have implemented the LOA in my Instagram strategy and teach it in my online coaching and courses. I think that Instagram can be such a wonderful place if we put into it what we hope to get out of it.

Take a look at the law of attraction reading list below that includes materials on this and other related topics. You can order them on Amazon (or better yet, check them out of your local library!). At the bottom you’ll also find a few podcasts and other resources that I’ve found to be helpful in figuring out the Law of Attraction and developing a positive mindset for my social media.

Think and Grow Rich for Women
by Sharon Lechter

Women are the future of American business. According to a recent Nielsen report, women will control two-thirds of American consumer wealth in less than a decade.

And yet almost all business and success literature is still written for men—dispensing advice that doesn’t take into account women’s unique strengths or address the demands of their lives.

The Power of Intention
By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Intention is generally viewed as a pit-bull kind of determination propelling one to succeed at all costs by never giving up on an inner picture. In this view, an attitude that combines hard work with an indefatigable drive toward excellence is the way to succeed. However, intention is viewed very differently in this book. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has researched intention as a force in the universe that allows the act of creation to take place. This book explores intention—not as something you do—but as an energy you’re a part of. We’re all intended here through the invisible power of intention. This is the first book to look at intention as a field of energy that you can access to begin co-creating your life with the power of intention.

You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.

The movie version is available on Netflix, too! You can skip one night of Gilmore Girls re-runs and watch this instead!

Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life
by Byron Katie

In the midst of a normal life, Katie became increasingly depressed, and over a ten-year period sank further into rage, despair, and thoughts of suicide. Then one morning, she woke up in a state of absolute joy, filled with the realization of how her own suffering had ended. The freedom of that realization has never left her, and now in Loving What Is you can discover the same freedom through The Work. The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, “It’s not the problem that causes our suffering; it’s our thinking about the problem.” Contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work, the thought lets go of us. At that point, we can truly love what is, just as it is.
